At Cains, we believe that the atmosphere in which you're drinking is as important as the drink itself. We should do: during the Victorian era, Robert Cain built some of the most extravagant and interesting pubs in the world, in which patrons were able to fully enjoy his world class ales.
The Robert Cain Brewery is once again building on this tradition, buying and refurbishing nine award winning outlets in recent years. Awards include 'Merseyside Pub of the Year' for Doctor Duncan's, 'Regional Pub of the Year for The Dispensary, and various 'Pub of the month' awards for our remaining pubs. Doctor Duncan's was the first bar in Liverpool to be Cask Marque accredited, and seven Robert Cains Pubs now share the honour. The most recent award, 'English Heritage Pub Refurbishment', won by The Dispensary, is one of which Cains is justly proud, as the entire pub - featuring original Victorian fixtures and fittings together with antique pharmaceutical pieces to bring to life the idea of an old dispensary - was designed in-house. The Brewery Tap received the same award in 1994.
