Family Brewers Reach Milestone 30th Member
18 November 2011
The Independent Family Brewers of Britain has today welcomed Liverpool based Robert Cain Brewery, owned by brothers Sudarghara and Ajmail Dusanj, as its 30th member. In the last year, the Family Brewers has seen its membership increase 15 per cent, having also welcomed Brakspear's, T&R Theakston and Black Sheep Brewery.
Cains' iconic brewery is at the heart of Liverpool city centre and the business has established a reputation as a craft brewer of quality beers by using the finest quality ingredients. Established in 1850, by Irish immigrant Robert Cain, the company has been an integral part of Liverpool's city life for generations and, under the ownership of the Dusanj brothers, it has grown from strength-to-strength and is now one of the fastest growing breweries in the country.
Over the past 10 years, Cains has expanded its range of branded craft beers, which include 16 products, from an award-winning export lager to a rich dark cask mild. The company is successfully tapping into lucrative export markets by supplying distributers in North America, Europe and Asia, in a bid to further strengthen the market for its craft beers.
Paul Wells, chairman of the Family Brewers comments: In welcoming Cains as the Family Brewers' 30th member, we are honouring the company and the long tradition of brewing from Cains' Liverpool brewery. The Independent Family Brewers of Britain represents all that is best in the world of brewing and pubs and we are pleased to have Cains in our ranks.
Sudarghara Dusanj, joint managing director of Cains, said: "Our journey started with my father in 1983 when he started his first business, a fish and chip shop in Chatham, Kent. He involved the whole family and together we grew the family enterprise into a chain of shops, then a drinks wholesale business and, since 2002, we have focused all our efforts on developing Cains Brewery. We therefore know the benefits of family ownership and how it can help a business to prosper.
"As an Asian-owned family brewery, we're delighted to be joining the Independent Family Brewers of Britain. Our membership is a wonderful endorsement for our business and the efforts we have made in pushing forward within the industry."
The Independent Family Brewers of Britain is widely recognised within the pub industry and occupies a unique space in the UK brewing industry.
